Cape Breton University: English Lecturer or Assistant Professor

The Department of Languages and Letters at Cape Breton University invites applications for two full-time, eight month, limited-term appointments at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor (depending on qualifications), in the area of Composition, to commence September, 2010.

The successful candidates will teach courses in composition at the introductory level.

Applicants must have at least an MA in English, and must have experience teaching effective writing to undergraduates.

UNBC English Program, College of Arts, Social and Health Sciences: Part-Time Instructors

The University of Northern British Columbia, in conjunction with the English Program, invites applications for part-time sessional instructor(s) to teach during the upcoming Fall and Winter sessions. The anticipate start date for the Fall session is September 1, 2010 and the anticipated start date for the Winter session is December 29, 2010.

The successful applicant(s) will be responsible for teaching one or more of the following undergraduate courses: ENGL 100 (3 SCH): Introduction to Literary Structures, ENGL 270 (3 SCH): Expository Writing and additional courses as required.

CLT, St. Francis Xavier University

The Department of English at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for one nine-month limited-term position.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach two sections of an introductory survey course as well as a course in twentieth-century literature in English.  The applicant chosen will demonstrate strong teaching skills; Ph.D. by the time of appointment preferred.

LTA in English Language and Literature, Université de Moncton

General Information:

The Département d'anglais at the Université de Moncton is seeking a 12 month contractually limited appointment beginning July 1st, 2010, to teach first-year English literature courses, including composition and English as a second language.  Depending on the candidate's field of interest, there may also be the possibility of teaching upper year courses in modern drama, traditions of the English novel, Canadian poetry, or postmodern literature.

Qualifications:
The candidates should have a Ph.D. in English literature, be functionally bilingual in Canada's two official languages, and committed to undergraduate teaching.
Exceptionally, candidates nearing completion of a Ph.D. in English literature (ABD) will also be considered.  In this case, the candidate's application must include a letter of reference from his or her thesis' director stating the level of advancement of doctoral studies and a time-frame for completion of the Ph.D.

Starting Date: July 1st 2010.

Salary: The annual salary will be based upon experience and qualifications and is subject to the Collective Agreement between ABPPUM and Université de Moncton.

Brock University - LTA, Medieval and Renaissance Studies

Job Summary
The Department of English Language and Literature and the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Brock University invite applications for a twelve-month Instructional Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2010. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD in hand or near completion. This is a teaching position which includes four one-semester courses in Early Modern Literature (Shakespeare, Spenser, sixteenth-century literature), all at the second and third year level; two one-semester courses in Medieval and Renaissance Studies (a third year special topics course and a third year survey of Renaissance poetry and prose); it also includes a two-semester first year English Literature course to be taught in the Spring term of 2011.
